"Nothing says home like the smell of baking"

Chocolate Cake Recipe | vegan

 

 Ingredients: 

  • 1 and 1/2 cups of flour 
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


NOTE: This recipe makes 1 nine inch round cake. Simply double the recipe to make a double layer cake (2 nine inch round cakes).


Directions:


Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 °F (177 °C).


Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt and granulated sugar. Make sure to break up all the clumps.


Step 3: To our dry ingredients, add in the olive oil, water, vinegar and vanilla extract. Whisk everything together until smooth and well combined.


Step 4: Prepare your baking pan by lining with parchment paper, then pour all of your batter into your prepared pan.


Step 5: Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean


Step 6: Allow cake to cool before frosting or dusting with powdered sugar
